Now I just need to find out when AMC Cinemas is doing its movie showcase.  Each year, they do a day long event, from 10 am to 10 pm, where they show all of the Oscar nominated pictures.  However, since as of last year, the list of Best Picture nominees has been upped from 5 to 10, there are now two separate showings, and last year, I was only able to attend one of those days.  This year, I'm definitely planning on going to both.  Its quite possible that, like last year, I'll be there by myself, since most people aren't as dorky as me and don't want to sit in a theatre all day.  But its a ton of fun.  A hugely discounted price and you get to see every one of the films nominated, so you really know which picture deserves to win.

New manga.

I took a poll of sorts to find ideas for new mangas/animes to read/watch.  But I didn't take any of these ideas lol.  Mainly because neither of our libraries have most of them.  But I have a list and I'll be getting some in the future.

I went to the Middletown library today and perused the selection, and picked out Ranma 1/2.  They have all 36 books, so I can read it all, and when I first started the anime club, I reviewed all of the manga, and I really enjoyed the first volume of Ranma 1/2 and really enjoyed it.  I'm really not a fan of the drawing style, but the storyline is really funny and cute.

Unfortunately, I only got out 8 volumes and I've already read 5, and the library is now closed until Monday.  So if I want more, I have to read it online.  Which sort of sucks.  Online manga is very convenient, since you can get as much as you want, but its also just NOT as convenient as manga in book form.  Scrolling and clicking is a pain.  Which sounds lazy, but I don't mean it that way.  I just like books better.

Oh hai.

Greetings and salutations.  A basic post to say hello and give notice to what's some of the stuff I'd like to accomplish this year.

My sister mentioned setting goals, so I'm going to set some. 

-currently, the Academy Awards has a total of 24 categories.  Every year, I places guesses as to who is going to win each award, some of them educated, some of them pure shots in the dark.  Usually, I get 1/2 correct.  This year, I want to get at least 3/4 of the answers right.

-Several months ago, a group of us began watching the American Film Institute's top 100 films.  We never got very far.  I would like to finish watching those films, and review them, hopefully before the end of the year.

-I have already read one new manga series this year.  I would like to read and review (at least) 11 more, one per month.

-I have also watched one new anime series this month.  I am going to set a smaller goal for anime viewing, since I don't want to spend all my time watching anime, as fun as it may be.  We'll start with five and see what happens.

This sounds good for now.  I don't think I should have difficulty with any of these, but we'll see.^^()
